Palace Garvensburg

The big industrialist Wilhelm Garvens from Hanover built this magnificent palace at the end of the 19th century. In the North Hessian town of Züschen he fulfilled a dream for his family and his guests: Quite in the taste of the late Gründerzeit [(hist.) period of rapid industrial expansion in Germany after 1871. trans.], he created a representative hunting lodge with surrounding estates. The furnishings and interior fittings were executed under the guidance of Garvens in the elegant style of the Renaissance and incorporated classical elements. Also remains of a former palace in Züschen were integrated in the walls, and the manufactured furniture was replaced with historical pieces.

For a long time Garvensburg Manor remained in the possession of the Garvens family and was finally converted into a private residence in the 1970s. In March 2004 the entrepreneur Harald Kneier acquired Garvensburg Manor, and since that time it has been not only a hotel and restaurant but also company headquarters and the location for the Kneier Group’s seminars.
